Next, here are 10 tips to help you get the most out of your first float experience:


Arrive right on time

We’ve built in a buffer to get you checked in and allow time for your pre-float shower. Your hour will start 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time.

Take the Tour

Your friendly Float Guides will show you to your room and give you a brief overview of what to do and what to expect. Feel free to ask any questions and let them know if you want any modifications such as music the whole float. All of our Float Guides love to float and are there to ensure you have the best possible first float experience. 

Use the earplugs

We strongly recommend using your complimentary ear plugs during at least your first visit to Just Float. Although rare, the salinity of the water can cause moisture to get stuck in some ear canals resulting in an uncomfortable feeling days later. This possibility can be avoided by using the earplugs.

Dry your face

A dry face after your pre-float shower will ensure minimal chance of any salt getting near your eyes.


There is no wrong way to float

Explore, find a comfortable position. Let your mind wander, or leave it blank. Sleep, meditate, process, brainstorm, sing. No matter what you do, the float environment will help you and heal you. 

It takes time the first time

For many first time guests, it takes a few minutes to adjust to the unique float environment. Spend your first float getting comfortable and finding what works best for you. Often times you’ll feel so relaxed by the end that you’re surprised the hour is already done, and when you come back you can pick up where you left off. 


If you find yourself feeling impatient, focus on inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Try counting backwards from 100 breaths. Before you know it, you’ll feel yourself let go and enjoy.

Use the float halo

Another very strong recommendation. The float halo allows you to completely relax by maintaining proper head positioning. Without the halo, you may instinctively try to hold your head up unnecessarily.


Enjoy and let it sink in

Feel free to take a few moments in the post-float lounge or lobby before you leave. Evaluate how you are feeling. Tell your Float Guides about your experience. Take a pause to reflect before heading back to the real world.

Take the Benefits with You

No matter how your first experience felt, floating automatically lowers your cortisol (stress), raises your seratonin (mood), soothes muscles and relaxes pressure on your joints. These benefits and more will be with you for hours and sometimes days after your float, leaving you relaxed, refreshed and restored.
